Aleksandar- Sasha Zalepugin – a journalist, editor,tv show host, Croat,born in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1931. He acquired his high school diploma in Pazin in 1950 and then enrolled Slavic Studies at the Faculty of Philisophy of the University of Zagreb graduating in 1957. During his studies he has written for ¨Studentski list¨, ¨Zagrebački tjednik¨, ¨Vjesnik u srijedu¨ etc. His student activities also included amateur acting at SKUD ¨Ivan Goran Kovačić¨ and being the president of the Student theatre the then popular ¨SEK¨.
After completing military service in 1958 he became the manager of the Cultural centre at the Workers’ University organizing esthetic adult education until 1962 when he took over the position of the director of Lado-Ensamble of the Croatin folk dances and songs in Zagreb.
His carrear at RTV Zagreb (Radio Television Zagreb) started in 1966. At first as an editor of ¨Kulturna panorama¨ and in 1968 as the editor of the Cultural Programme of TV Zagreb. He was the editor of the Entertainment Programme of TV Zagreb from 1971 till 1973 when he started the series of the mosaic shows called ¨Nedeljom popodne¨ ( Sunday Afternoon ) sports, fashion, film, music, theatre, cultural heritage of Croatia as well as abroad, curiosities and similar topics lasting 4 hours. With the longest show of TV Zagreb as well as with ¨Sastanak bez dnevnog reda¨, which was the pioneer of ¨western journalism¨ on Zagreb channel of former JRT (Yugoslav Radio Television), he reached the unbeliveable 70% ratings. Both shows presented ¨a window on the world ¨ being European oriented and in itself the beginnings of talk shows on JRT and TV Zagreb. They brought about a true revolution in entertainment progremmes throughout Yugoslavia in the mid seventies.
As a journalist he interviewed some of the most prominent figures from politics, culture and music including Nixon, Humphrey, Sinatra etc. At the same time during the seventies he successfully organised many public shows such as the prestigeous ¨Modafest International¨ in Hvar and Trogir, hundreds of fashion shows, one of which was even held at the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb representing an absolute precedent.
In 1978 General director of the RTV Zagreb dismissed him due to pro-western orientation of the show which became an institution within institution. He spent 3 years on hold after which he started editing and hosting a new series of mosaic shows ¨Sastanak bez dnevnog reda¨ up until 1991. He also edited shows such as live coverage of cultural events and festivals (Dubrovnik Summer Festival, Pula Film Festival etc). At the same time from 1988 till 1991 he was the editor of the Late night programme ¨Program plus¨.
. He was on hold on Croatian Television until 1996 when he retired. For a period of time he cooperated in the programme of TV ¨Mreža¨ (TV Network), brought about a project of a mosaic show on Slovenian Pop TV and acted as a mentor-consultant during the starting of Rijeka’s local tv station Kanal Ri etc. From 2001 he has been editor of the Croatian edition of the Slovenian magazine ¨Moda in¨ where his qualities in written journalism became prominent. .
2006 and 2007 years edited the Sunday show program on OBN tv in Sarajevo
For 4 years in a row he has been voted the most popular tv personality in former Yugoslavia. In a survey by a recpectable weekly ¨Nin¨ in 1978 he was the only non political person among 10 most important people in the country. In 1997 in a major poll published by ¨Nacional¨ television professionals of all generations of TV Zagreb and HRTV (Croatian Radio Television) voted him as one of 10 most important people in the history of television in Croatia.
He is also the winner of ¨Zlatni vijenac¨ (Golden wreath) of a weekly ¨Studio¨ in 1975, 1976, 1977, 1978, of popularity Oskar of ¨RTV revija¨ in 1977 and in 1970 he received an Order of Labour from the president of SFRJ (Socialist Federative Republic of Yugoslavia) Josip Broz Tito.
From 1982 was engaged in the research of causes and consequences of harmful radiation on human health He managed to find a way to completely eliminate harmful radiation in the human environment, which now is traying scientifically prove!
